About the Documentary
Created by Dr. Tamecca Rogers — award-winning filmmaker, journalist, bestselling author, and U.S. Navy veteran — the series examines the criminalization of women who defended themselves against abuse and later became incarcerated.
The pilot episode centers on Tyesha Long, asking the question that haunts every survivor whose story has been reduced to a case file: when the system mistakes survival for guilt, who is left to listen?

Why This Matters
Behind every statistic is a woman whose story was rewritten by a courtroom that never knew her. These figures are not the conclusion — they are the threshold of the conversation.
In the Nation
Oklahoma has consistently ranked among the highest states for incarceration of women in the United States.
Survivors Behind Bars
A staggering majority of incarcerated women report histories of domestic violence, sexual assault, or coercion.
Lifetime Prevalence
Nearly half of Oklahoma women will experience intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
The Oklahoma Survivors' Act
Landmark legislation allowing courts to consider abuse history at sentencing — a step toward survivor-centered justice.
"Survivor-centered justice is not leniency — it is accuracy. It is the act of finally seeing what was always there."
